My Qualities as a Coach.

You’ll find me calm, understanding, sympathetic, non-judgemental and when appropriate, gently humorous. I have a creative mind and will help you to think outside the box. I will challenge any negative assumptions you have about yourself and your capabilities, but not aggressively so.

I love working with people one-to-one and know that my genuine enthusiasm and belief are major contributors to the successful relationships with my clients.

My aim is that your achievements and self-discovery will be your own, that you will become driven by your own enthusiasm, belief and motivation

My Belief in You

First of all – I recognise that we are all different. What’s easy for you may be a real challenge for someone else – and vice versa. So, for better or worse, we are all unique.

Yet in some ways we are very similar. Each one of us can be more, do more and do things better. It can be scary to acknowledge, but your potential is immense.

You may already believe that, and are looking to life coaching to help you achieve even more in your life. I have no doubt that life coaching can help you do so.

But I realise too, that right now you may not be so sure.  You may know that you want to make significant changes to your life, but not truly believe that positive change can happen to you. The good news is that with good life coaching and even a tentative willingness to embrace change, positive change will come. On the other hand, if you never quite get around to trying, you can only expect more of what you’ve already got. And where’s the sense in that?

A Little About Me

I’ve been involved in Life Coaching since 2002 and became a full time coach in the summer of 2003. That’s now over a decade and a half of dedicated coaching experience.

In 2003 I founded the Sheffield Coaching Exchange (a monthly continuous professional development meeting for coaches in and around Sheffield). I’ve been part of the leadership team ever since and am currently chairman. The Coaching Exchange is now in its second decade and remains at the very centre of Sheffield’s coaching community.

Before becoming a coach my background was in further education. I taught English and Creative Writing at Barnsley College, and chaired the Sheffield Hallam University Writers’ Group for several years.

I’m happily married with three grown-up daughters and a clutch of beautiful young grandchildren.
